What to prepare for 6.4?

Tomestones
To prepare for 6.4, it’s important to focus on capping your Tomestone of Astronomy and Casuality. Casuality has a weekly cap, so it’s important to start early to ensure you reach the cap before the new patch drops. In 6.4, Astronomy will be retired and replaced with Casuality as the new tomestone to buy crafting materials. However, don’t overlook Astronomy just yet, as it can still be spent even after it’s retired. This means that instead of having a max of 2000 tomes at the start of the patch, you’ll be able to have a total of 4000 tomes to buy materials with.
I recommend two ways to cap your tomestones before patch 6.4
- Participate in daily roulettes on a max level character. By being max level the rewards will be Astronomy and/or Casuality.
- Participate in hunt trains to get both tomestones and clusters for materia. Faloop is a hunting discord server which organizes hunt trains on every server.
By capping these tomestones, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire the latest battlegear in patch 6.4, or you can make a ton of gil in the first few weeks by selling the new materials to craft the latest battlegear. This is especially important as many players will be looking to buy these materials before diving into the new savage tier. So don’t miss out on the chance to maximize your earnings and get ahead in the game by capping your Tomestone of Astronomy and Casuality.
Gathering gear
Preparing a full gathering set is the second focus for patch 6.4 preparation, and there are two options to consider. You can stock up on purple gathering scrips to purchase the new scrip gear to be released in 6.4, or you can prepare a full Indagator’s gathering set now. The Indagator’s set is the better option as it will remain the best until the next expansion’s max level, due to the potential for overmelding.
While the scrip gear is sufficient for gathering the new materials, I still recommend getting the Indagator’s set. By playing during the first few weeks of 6.4, you’ll quickly recoup your gil investment by gathering and selling the new materials on the market. Additionally, with the release of the new savage tier, there will be several new gathering materials that will remain in high demand, making patch 6.4 an excellent opportunity to earn millions with minimal effort.
Gathering Food
To ensure that you’re fully prepared for the new gathering nodes in patch 6.4, it’s wise to have some gathering food ready ahead of time. In the past, we’ve seen prices for gathering food skyrocket during the release of new nodes, leaving many players with no choice but to buy them from the marketboard.
To be completely covered, I recommend preparing 100 HQ Jhinga Curry or Kalamarakia Tiganita for patch 6.4. Even if you don’t use all of them yourself, you can easily sell the extras on the marketboard for a good profit. It’s important to note that we don’t yet know the exact perception and gathering requirements for the new nodes, so having some gathering food on hand can give you a significant advantage in acquiring the new materials.
Purple Crafting Scrips
Lastly, it’s important to cap out your purple crafting scrips. These will once again be the main currency to buy the newest materials for crafting the latest battle food in patch 6.4.
You can easily cap your purple crafting scrips by doing custom deliveries each week. This requires minimal effort and will provide you with both white and purple crafting scrips.
An honorable mention for purple scrip farming is the Rarefied Sykon Bavarois, as it’s a highly effective collectable for Culinarians to craft. However, keep in mind that the prices of the materials used in this recipe will likely go up as we near patch 6.4 or even a week or two into the patch. So it’s best to plan ahead and stock up on the necessary materials before the prices increase.
Additional prep for 6.4
In addition to the essential preparations for patch 6.4, there are a few more things you can do to further increase your profits and efficiency in the game.
Bicolor Gemstones
Bicolor Gemstones are a great item to have on hand as they can be used to buy materials that have risen in demand due to patch 6.4. By having a stockpile of these gemstones, you’ll be able to purchase the materials you need without having to spend time gathering them from monsters or retainers.
Crafting collectables
By preparing collectables ahead of time, it is possible to go above the 4000 cap for both white and purple crafting scrips. This means that when patch 6.4 is released and new materials are available for purchase using scrips, you can use these already-prepared collectables to increase your overall cap and buy even more materials.
Materia
Battle materia is a good item to stock up on because it’s cheap now but will likely increase in price as we get closer to patch 6.4. If you have clusters from hunts or roulettes, it’s a good idea to save them until 1 week before the patch or after the patch has released when everyone needs to pentameld their new battle gear.
Crafting and gathering materia are important items to have because, based on the requirements for the new items added in 6.4, people will likely need to remeld their crafting and gathering gear to hit the new breakpoints. This presents an opportunity to sell materia at a much higher price, so it’s a good idea to stock up now to capitalize on this potential market.
