Gathering rotations
If you’re a fan of crafting and gathering in Final Fantasy XIV, then you know how important it is to stay on top of the game’s timed nodes. These nodes are resources that spawn at specific times and locations in the game world, and they’re essential for crafting high-level items and making gil in the game’s economy. But with so many nodes to keep track of, it can be tough to stay organized and efficient – that’s where Garland Bell comes in, a tool that can help you make your own gathering rotations.
Garland Bell is a website that tracks timed nodes in FFXIV, and it’s an invaluable resource for any crafter or gatherer looking to optimize their gameplay. With a user-friendly interface and customizable features, Garland Bell makes it easy to keep track of when and where specific resources will spawn, so you can plan your gathering routes and make the most of your time in the game.
So, how exactly do you use Garland Bell to track timed nodes? Let’s break it down step-by-step:
The first step is to navigate to the Garland Bell website at https://garlandtools.org/bell/
Tracking options in Garland Bell
When you have made it to the site its time to set it up so you can track exactly what you are searching looking for. I will quickly explain what the different settings in the side bar means.
The first setting that you can select is which “patch” you want to gather from. This indicates the different expansions.
- 2.0 = ARR
- 3.0 = Heavensward
- 4.0 = Stormblood
- 5.0 = Shadowbringers
- 6.0 = Endwalker
For most endgame gathering we will be focusing on 6.0 nodes.
Classes refers to the different gathering jobs. By selecting i.e. the pickaxe, you will see all timed nodes that Mining can gather.
The great thing is, you can select multiple classes at once. Personally, I like to keep an eye on both Mining and Botanist nodes while gathering. It helps me plan out my routes and gather more efficiently.
For the different types of gathering nodes, we can split the timed nodes into 3 categories.
- Unspoiled nodes, which are timed nodes that allow you to gather collectibles. These collectibles can then be exchanged for either white or purple scrips.
- Ephemeral Nodes can be used for Aetherial Reduction, which converts them into crystals, clusters, and varying types of aethersand.
- Legendary nodes provide valuable materials which are often used for endgame gear and consumables for the given expansion.
Finally, there’s the Tasks setting, which I personally use to filter the different types of scrips.
For example, let’s say I’ve selected Unspoiled nodes as the type of gathering I want to focus on. If I only want to collect purple scrips, I can use the Tasks setting to filter the timers and only see nodes that offer collectibles that can be exchanged for purple scrips. This helps me focus on gathering the materials I need to achieve my goals.
Example setup
For those in need of purple scrips, I have an example setup that tracks nodes with collectables that offer purple scrips when handed in. You can copy these settings to optimize your gathering efforts and make the most of your time.
However, keep in mind that some nodes may have multiple timed materials and collectables available. So, be sure to choose the one you need for your current goal. As shown in the picture below, many nodes that offer purple scrips collectables may also have white scrips available.
- A green bar indicates that the node is currently available to be gathered from. The bar also shows how much time is left until the node disappears, so you can plan your gathering route accordingly. Keep in mind that Unspoiled and Legendary nodes can only be gathered once per rotation, so you’ll need to wait for them to respawn to gather from them again.
- An orange bar indicates that the node is about to spawn, and shows how much time is left until it becomes available.
- grey bar indicates that the node is not currently available and won’t be for at least 5 minutes. This can be useful information to keep in mind when planning your gathering route, so you can prioritize other nodes in the meantime.
My way of finding the nodes I need, is that I check Garland Bell for which node is currently up on my rotation, then I go ingame write the name in the gathering window (default keybind is B) and through there open up the map for the area that the node is in. (It opens up the map by click the “Lv. 90 Horrea Campi” in this example.
Make your own gathering rotations
It is possible to track individual timed nodes, by either creating lists, or simply adding them to favorits. This menu can be access by clicking on the timer that you wish to add to either favorits or add to a list.
For the different types of gathering nodes, we can split the timed nodes into 3 categories.
- Lists allows you to create and name the different gathering routes that you want. An example could be you made a list for purple scrips, white scrips, and one for specific legendary nodes that you need.
- Favorits function very similar to a list, and is a “quick” tracker for things that you collect often.
And that’s all there is to it! By using Garland Bell, you can easily track timed nodes in FFXIV and create gathering routes for all the different materials you need in the game. With just a few clicks, you can filter the nodes by job and type, and even customize your settings to focus on specific collectables and scrips.
